This past weekend we spent Friday testing and setting up the car at BRP, we turned the boost down and concentrated on fine tuning the suspension and aero. After several laps at the open test day we had the car set up just the way we wanted it.
Saturday back at the shop to get the car prepped for round 7 of the Redline Time Attack series held on Sunday at WSIR. Fluids refreshed, all suspension checked out and re tightened and a nice car wash to get rid of the tire marks from a close incident with a GT3 cup car during practice at BRP.
For the first practice sessions on Sunday morning we were having an overboost issue so we decided to turn the boost controller off and run off the wastegate spring. Running only 7psi of boost the car did suffer top end speed on the straights, but was a lot more tame and fun to drive through the course. This was also our first event running E85 so we were monitoring fuel consumption closely. We went through about 5-6 gallons per 15min sessions, we were over prepared with an extra 40 gals in the trailer.
We ran Modified RWD class as always, our best lap of the day was a 1:29:557 giving us a podium finish and placing us in 3rd for our class. Overall a great weekend at the track doing what we love and having a blast. Running the car with low boost and making under 300hp we were happy with our results which could have been even better if we were able to complete out last lap. Another competitor running Modified AWD class suffered an engine failure a few car lengths ahead of us causing an oil spill and big fire forcing us to exit the track before the lap was completed.
Here are a few pics of the event, thanks to all who were able to snap some shots of #26.
